Mathewson’s bank offers SME loans

Shawbrook Bank, the new specialist savings and lending bank chaired by Scots banker Sir George Mathewson, is now offering secured loans to small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs) in Scotland.

Its move north of the Border coincides with expansion into the east of Scotland by Aldermore Bank, the invoice and asset finance bank.

Shawbrook distributes its products through brokers rather than using a branch network. It is a combination of three financial businesses – Whiteaway Laidlaw Bank, Link Loans and the lending platform of Commercial First.
