The Marco Pierre White Steakhouse Bar & Grill will be located on the ground floor of Hotel Indigo Glasgow in the city centre’s Waterloo Street.

The chef said: “It’s been a long time in the planning, but I’m absolutely delighted to open my first city centre restaurant in Glasgow – a city that I love.” White, who opened his first Scottish restaurant in Dumfries late last year, described Glasgow’s dining scene as “vibrant”.

However, while he is known for being the youngest chef ever to win three Michelin stars, he said the new restaurant will not be focusing on this high-end dining out experience.

“It isn’t about Michelin-standard food, which for most people is experienced as a one-off or for a very special occasion,” he explained, stressing that he is instead looking forward to serving “quality food at affordable prices” to Glaswegian diners.

This will include a “very reasonably set-priced menu” and regionally-inspired daily specials.

Denis MacCann, general manager of Hotel Indigo and co-chair of the Greater Glasgow Hotels Association, said: “We have a great dining scene in Glasgow and this new venture is only going to enhance what we offer.”
