Oil major BP said yesterday that it had won two production sharing contracts from the Indonesian government.

The UK firm will start exploring the blocks, which cover 16,000sq km west of the Aru island group, shortly. BP plans to double its spend on exploration worldwide over the next few years, and has gained access to 69 new licence blocks in 11 countries since October 2010, including several in Indonesia.
