Mactaggart & Mickel launched its timber frame business in 2008 and has recently opened a large production unit in Bellshill.

Ross Mickel, a director and a member of the fourth generation of the family to run the business, said: “We have achieved solid success to date in a very challenging climate.

“These new contract wins are evidence of this as we continue to secure strong levels of repeat business.

“Our new facility will allow us to further expand our customer base and develop new products.”

Mickel added that, as legislation became increasingly demanding, “the already‑pressed construction industry needs to ensure it is embracing new technologies and processes to meet these standards while remaining economically viable.”

He added that the business is currently delivering its most ambitious project to date – 228 units for the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games athletes’ village at Scotstoun.
