Last orders for struggling nightclub

A NIGHTCLUB in Kilmarnock that fell into administration in November has been closed with the loss of all 21 jobs.

Derek Jackson and Ken Pattullo, joint administrators from accountancy firm Begbies Traynor, took over the Monkey Bar, in St Marnock Place, on 23 November, after “a sustained period of poor trading”.

Jackson said: “The business was purchased in July 2010 and unfortunately has faced continuing tough market conditions. Increased local competition with the opening of another nightclub in the town before Christmas proved to be the last straw.”
