Land Rover-Unite talks stalled

TALKS between union chiefs and Jaguar Land Rover have stalled as the firm said it could no longer guarantee 8,000 jobs until 2015.

Informal talks between union leaders and the company took place before Christmas after the publication of the company's strategic review in September.

Last week the company began a set of formal talks with Unite to discuss the review, including proposed changes to pay and pensions. But the talks have now broken down.

However, it is understood that further talks are likely and industrial action is not imminent.
