Kirk explores final frontier with Clyde Space placement

A SATELLITE maker in Glasgow has boldly gone where no business has gone before after welcoming its very own James Kirk on a school work experience placement.

James, 17, from Glasgow Academy, is considering a career in engineering after working at Clyde Space, which is backing calls by skills council Semta for more young people to consider apprenticeships as an alternative to university.

Chief executive Craig Clark says: "Among other bits of work, James Kirk was able to have a look at our recently developed power controller for our ion drive – no kidding. Unfortunately, Scotty was on holiday this week, but Spock was here to show James around."
