Kevin Russell to step down as 3 chief

Kevin Russell, the chief executive of mobile phone operator 3, has announced he is standing down.

He will be replaced by chief operating officer David Dyson. Russell, who has been in the top job for four and half years, will return to his native Australia with his family and will take a six-month sabbatical from work. The firm is the smallest of the UK's four major mobile phone companies and is owned by Chinese conglomerate Hutchison Whampoa.
