Kennedy and Eccles beefing up Brodies

Law firm Brodies is beefing up its private client and charity team in Glasgow with the appointment of new partners Norman Kennedy and Alan Eccles.

The pair are said to have built a “formidable reputation for their expertise in advising charities and some of the country’s best known entrepreneurs”. Both join Brodies’ Glasgow office from Maclay Murray & Spens, where they are currently partners.

Immigration law specialist Jamie Kerr will be adding to an already busy schedule when he becomes the 33rd partner at Thorntons today.

He is one of only three accredited specialists working in his highly complex field in Scotland.

A regular speaker at seminars and training events, Kerr also sits on the Law Society of Scotland’s constitutional law sub-committee, tutors human rights law and occasionally lecturers on the Diploma in Legal Practice at the University of Glasgow.

Building firm Stewart Milne has appointed Andrew Tweedie to the new post of group head of finance. Tweedie, a qualified chartered accountant, joins from logistics heavyweight John Menzies.

Aberdeenshire marine equipment specialist Motive Offshore has made two management appointments to deal with its recent growth. The Banff-based firm will be hoping that experienced planning and strategy expert Colin Murray can replicate the success he has seen at other organisation as its new head of finance.

The firm, which was launched in 2010, is clearly confident in his abilities as it has also hired human resources expert Moira Stickle to take responsibility for the on-going recruitment and development of the workforce.
