Irishman John Keating joins the Fairmont St Andrews with 30 years’ experience in the industry, including training at London’s Ritz Hotel. He has worked at senior level both in the UK and internationally, including managing director of Cameron House in Loch Lomond from April 2011 to January 2013.

The Fairmont sits within 520 acres of land overlooking St Andrews, and comprises 209 hotel bedrooms, two manor houses, conference facilities, a fitness spa and the Torrance and Kittocks championship golf courses. It has hosted Open qualifying rounds and the Scottish Senior Open, as well as political gatherings such as the Northern Ireland peace talks and the 2009 G20 summit.

“I’m delighted to be returning to Scotland to such a prestigious property,” Keating said. “I’m looking forward to the future development plans at the resort.”

The complex was purchased in last August by property investor Kennedy Wilson Europe for £32.4 million. It is operated by Fairmont Hotels and Resorts under a management agreement to 2031.

Keating’s CV includes an eight-year stint with CCA International managing five-star resorts and clubs in China, Indonesia, Russia and Taiwan.
