The high-profile entrepreneur, who alongside a group of investors bought the Jessops brand and other assets from administrators in January 2013, said he would bring “unique new services” to Sainsbury’s shoppers, including a junior photography club for
under 18s.

The first three locations have been confirmed – Newport in South Wales, Waterlooville and Maidenhead. Other sites are likely to follow.

Jones said: “This is a very exciting landmark deal for Jessops. It is a natural next step for our multi-channel strategy which is all about giving consumers the choice on how to buy.”

Jessops – founded in 1935 in Leicester by Frank Jessop – saw 187 branches close when it fell into administration. The relaunched business currently has 28 sites.
