ITV boosted by advertising rise

ITV yesterday pointed to signs of improvement in the advertising market after group revenues grew by 6 per cent in the first nine months of the year.

Chief executive Adam Crozier also hailed the broadcaster’s “increasingly varied and high-quality schedule” after its main channel’s viewing share rose from 15.6 per cent to 16.1 per cent in the year to 31 October.

Shows such as Downton Abbey and The X-Factor have drawn in advertisers, while Sunday’s launch of I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here drew a record audience of 12 million.

Group revenues rose to £1.7 billion from £1.6bn.
