IME Property announce merger deal with rival DMB Property

Fast-growing Edinburgh commercial property agency IME Property has today announced a merger with an East Lothian rival to accelerate its expansion.

As part of the deal with DMB Property, the latter’s owner David Bell, aged 66, will join IME as a consultant bringing more than 40 years experience in the commercial property market.

Iain Mercer, IME Property’s managing director, said: “The merger with DMB Property immediately widens (our) portfolio across Edinburgh and the Lothians, but also highlights our intention to continually grow the business.

“Bringing David in in a consultancy role brings vast experience to the IME brand with his strong client base and wealth of industry knowledge.”

Mercer revealed that, apart from today’s merger, it has been a busy first half of the year for IME, which was founded in 1989 and is based in Edinburgh’s Tollcross areas.

Sales of more than £500,000 have been concluded at two properties in Edinburgh. A double shop unit (previously a convenience store) at 25-28 Argyle Place sold for in excess of £300,000, while 24 Upper Gilmore Place (a former garage and store) sold for £250,000.

The enlarged business will operate under the IME brand. “The DMB Property merger apart, we have enjoyed a strong start to 2016 in terms of both sales and lettings and we continue to witness an increase in activity as more people become aware of the IME brand and our philosophy,” Mercer added.
