I like it... an intelligent coat hanger

FASHION retailer C&A has come up with a new way to show shoppers which clothes are earning a following by creating intelligent coat hangers with an electronic counter showing Facebook “likes”.

The FashionLike system allows Facebook users on the retail chain’s website to click on whether or not they like the item.

Every Facebook Like increases the number on the electronic display on the hanger, which is updated in real time.

As well as letting shoppers know if an item is likely to fly off the shelves, it also allows fashion mavericks to seek out items which they will not see on others by deliberately choosing less popular items.

So far the device is only used Brazil – in the fashion retailer’s flagship store in São Paulo.
