McClure Naismith, founded in Glasgow in 1826, was more than seven months late in filing its annual accounts, and recently said it was looking at the possibility of merging with a rival.

The firm, headed by executive chairman Robin Shannan received an official warning earlier this year that it could be struck off the Companies House register and dissolved following an “embarrassing” error with its paperwork that meant it had failed to tell Companies House that it remained a trading entity.

A statement on the firm’s website said: “Thomas Campbell MacLennan and Alexander Iain Fraser of FRP Advisory LLP were appointed joint administrators of McClure Naismith LLP on 28 August 2015.

“The affairs, business and property of the LLP are being managed by the joint administrators who act as agents of the LLP and without personal liability.”
