Gym Group to create 20 jobs with new Glasgow site

Fitness club operator The Gym Group is to open its fourth branch in Glasgow, creating up to 20 jobs.

The firm, which floated on the London Stock Exchange in November, said the Bothwell Street site, which used to house a Habitat furniture store, is to due to open its doors on 23 March.

The Gym has 74 other branches across the UK, open 24 hours a day to “accommodate the busy schedules of city workers”. Fitness sector veteran Jamie Stuart has been appointed general manager of the Bothwell Street venue.

Chief executive John Treharne said: “We deliver a ‘what you see is what you get’ service at an affordable price.

“But more than this, at The Gym there are no contracts to tie you in because we know that people need flexibility to accommodate other changes in their lives and to come and go from their gym, as and when they want.”
