Grigson to take Trinity Mirror chair

ONE of Standard Life’s non-executive directors has been named as the next chairman of newspaper publisher Trinity Mirror.

David Grigson, formerly chief financial officer of news agency Reuters, will become a non-exec and chairman designate from the start of the New Year. He is due to succeed current chairman Sir Ian Gibson on 3 August.

Grigson is chairman of Creston, the marketing group, and also holds a non-executive directorship at online food delivery group Ocado. He was previously a non-exec director of Carphone Warehouse.

Gibson, who has chaired the publisher of the Daily Mirror and Daily Record since 2006, will retire as a director and chairman at the start of August.

Last month, Trinity Mirror said its performance this year should beat market expectations.
