Graham Rogers gets to the hub of the matter

Financial services veteran Graham Rogers has moved from Morgan Stanley to Barclays to take charge of its global "shared services hub" in Glasgow.

Rogers joins the bank following a 26-year career in financial services, most recently as global head of cash settlements at Morgan Stanley.

Before that, he worked for Mitsubishi Finance International, Scandinavian Bank Group and TSB.

He said: "I'm looking forward to putting my international experience to use in delivering a cohesive strategic operating model across the global business."

The bank said the appointment reflected the continued growth of Barclays Wealth's and Barclays Capital's shared services hub, which, with more than 1,800 staff, is one of Glasgow's top ten employers.

Edinburgh man Donald Lawson has been promoted to the top job at Faithful & Gould, the cost and project management consultancy with offices across Scotland. His appointment as chief executive follows the retirement last month of Richard Hall.

Lawson joined the firm in 1986 and has served as Faithful & Gould's UK chief operating officer since 2006.He has overseen the delivery of major projects in the energy and manufacturing sectors, including a contract to support EDF Energy's nuclear new-build programme with the provision of quantity surveyor and contract management expertise.

Elsewhere, Lifescan Scotland, maker of blood glucose test devices used in the management of diabetes, said executive director David McMillan had resigned from his position on the Inverness-based board of the firm to take a larger role in the wider European group. He will become Lifescan Europe's worldwide franchise director of customer quality.

Jurys Inn Edinburgh has promoted Edinburgh University graduate Claire Livingston to general manager after two years as deputy at the 186-room hotel. Jurys Inn chief executive John Brennan said: "It's very rewarding to see employees that have joined us early in their careers realise their potential."
