Gerbeau in sights of Twickenham

THE French chief executive of Braehead X-Scape owner X-Leisure is being touted as a potential new boss of the English Rugby Football Union.

Some English clubs are said to favour PY Gerbeau for the post of chief executive at the RFU, which becomes vacant next month.

Gerbeau, who is credited with turning around the Millennium Dome, said he would be “up for the challenge” but also revealed a possible stumbling block: he’s a keen France supporter.

But he said the RFU should appoint someone from outside traditional rugby circles.
