Gartmore in talks with Henderson

Gartmore, the fund manager, confirmed last night that Henderson is considering making an offer for the company at a slight discount to the Gartmore share price at the close of trading on Thursday.

Gartmore shares jumped 6 per cent to 104.8p, valuing the company at 381 million.

In a statement issued after the stock market closed, Gartmore said there could be no certainty that there will be a formal offer for the company or what those terms might be. It said a further announcement will be made in due course.
