Fourth year of growth for Scots law firm Brodies

LAW firm Brodies has reported revenue and profit growth for the fourth year in a row. Income jumped 13.2 per cent to £52.1 million, following a 7.5 per cent rise in the previous year.

The practice said the figures can be credited to the completion of its 2011/2014 strategic plan, during which turnover grew by 41.4 per cent.

During the last year it signed leases for new premises in Glasgow and Aberdeen. The firm is the first occupier of the new office development at 110 Queen Street, Glasgow and is due to relocate in autumn 2015. It is moving into a purpose-built office in Aberdeen this summer.

Staff numbers rose overall by 5.6 per cent to reach 564, and the number of partners grew from 75 to 80.

Managing partner Bill Drummond, left, said Brodies’ cash balances was “strongly positive,” growing by 57 per cent He said that in the year, it witnessed “further sweeping changes in the Scottish legal market”.
