Former Balfour boss named chairman at Bovis Homes

Housebuilder Bovis Homes today said former Balfour Beatty chief executive Ian Tyler will become its new chairman at the end of this month.

Tyler, who ran the construction and infrastructure business for eight years before stepping down in March, replaces Malcolm Harris, who is retiring after more than five years at the helm and almost 40 years with the builder.

Bovis chief executive David Ritchie said: “I am extremely pleased that Ian is joining the board as non-executive chairman and look forward to working with him as the group continues the ongoing successful execution of its growth strategy and the delivery of improving shareholder returns.”

In June, Tyler was appointed as a non-executive director at Edinburgh-based oil explorer Cairn Energy. He is also a non-executive at defence contractor BAE Systems and chairman of Al Noor Hospitals, the largest private healthcare provider in Abu Dhabi.
