The Aberdeen-based firm said its tie-up with Brazilian corporate communications agency Zoom Out would see both companies expand their presence in the world’s major oil and gas producing regions. They plan to “co-operate closely” on creative, digital, public relations and brand strategy projects.

A spokeswoman for Fifth Ring, which was founded in 1991 and has offices in Dubai, Houston and Singapore, described the alliance as a “formal agreement” but said it stopped short of being a full merger or an acquisition. Both Fifth Ring and Zoom Out will keep and operate with their own brands for now.

Ian Ord, founder and business development director, Fifth Ring, said: “Zoom Out is the leading oil and gas focused B2B [business-to-business] agency in Brazil so it aligns perfectly with the existing Fifth Ring offer.

“I firmly believe that the timing of this announcement couldn’t be better – the Brazilian energy industry is on the cusp of significant change with many companies now eyeing the opportunities that exist there.

“Together with Zoom Out we are ideally placed to help companies access and grow in this important market.”

Fernanda Falcão, a founding partner of Zoom Out, said: “We have seen a marked increase in Brazilian companies looking to internationalise in recent years, for example many of our clients are now attending foreign oil and gas exhibitions and conferences and seeking out opportunities to expand their networks around the world.

“Through this alliance we will now be able to provide stronger representation for them, wherever they operate.”
