EMI launches 'strategic review'

MUSIC group EMI last night launched a strategic review into the future of the business and will consider a sale or potential stock market listing.

The company insisted there was no assurance the review would result in a transaction.

Earlier this year, investment bank Citigroup seized full control of the firm - whose artists include the Beatles and Coldplay - from financier Guy Hands, whose private equity vehicle Terra Firm bought EMI in 2007 for 4.2 billion before the financial crisis struck.
