Edinburgh's ClearWater Hygiene launches device to help tackle Covid-19

Edinburgh-based hand sanitiser firm ClearWater Hygiene has launched a new offering to help pubs and other public-facing businesses better control the spread of Covid-19 – reiterating its claim that it has bagged business worth up to £30 million in sales.

The firm has unveiled the Smart stand, which includes an adjustable infrared temperature camera, helping monitor customers for symptoms before they enter premises, and integrated motion sensor hand sanitiser dispenser.

ClearWater has already signed up some Aberdonian licenced premises looking to implement enhanced safety standards in preparation for re-opening once the local lockdown is lifted. The Smart stand was developed through the company’s own intellectual property and is designed and manufactured in the UK.

ClearWater was launched in late March in response to what it saw as a lack of high-quality, fairly priced hand sanitisers available to the NHS and UK businesses. The company says its supply chain is completely UK-based with its product made at a number of Scottish distilleries including Deeside Distillery in Banchory, Aberdeenshire.

ClearWater now produces more than 900,000 litres of its product a week and said it is now on course to generate more than £30m in revenue after securing major corporate contracts across the UK.

Chief executive Andrew Montague said: “The Smart stand launch has been expedited to help pubs play a greater part in minimising the spread of Covid-19 and prevent further lockdowns.”
