Edgar Stewart to inject £120k into start-ups

THe firm’s three directors – Craig Jackson, Bruce Hydes and Alan Wallace – are seeking out new talent for the sector in a bid to revitalise the industry’s image as well as increase their profit margins.

Promising to foster a “laid-back” and “flexible” at the workplace for start-up firms, the trio have relocated to Stockbridge from its former headquarters in the capital’s west end.

Each start-up will be given up to £30,000 to establish their business with additional advice and support from Edgar Stewart.

“The recruitment industry, as it stands, is not future-proof,” said Jackson. “It’s a tough nut to crack and the market is near saturation point.

“With today’s start-up culture and tendency towards flexible and remote working, recruitment has to move with the times.

“That’s why we’re keen to diversify into wider business support services – not only to ensure our longevity and profitability for the years ahead, but for longevity of the industry as a whole.

“We’re keen to see young talent flourish and, since we have the know-how and capital, we are in a prime position to take young start-up recruitment businesses under our wing and help them grow.”

Edgar Stewart, established five years ago, has operated in a range of sectors, with clients in the food and drink industry, technology and life sciences.
