Dutch wary of weak euro economies

A DUTCH opinion poll at the weekend showed that nearly half those surveyed want the eurozone’s strongest economies, including Germany and the Netherlands, to form their own currency bloc, reflecting a deep distrust of weaker members who need expensive bail-outs.

A new Maurice de Hond survey found that 47 per cent of Dutch people polled favoured forming a hard core euro bloc, up from 39 per cent in May. It also found that 32 per cent favoured quitting the euro, 60 per cent were against leaving and 43 per cent wanted a referendum on whether to quit.
