Dentist firm braced for growth after takeover deal

An independent dental firm has expanded in Perthshire after swallowing another business in a six-figure takeover.

Infinityblu Dental Care and Implant Clinic, established by a Scottish Young Dentist of the Year winner Chris Barrowman, has bought out current Smiles Dental owners Bruce Duguid and Caroline Bayles, and consequently added practices in Crieff and Auchterarder.

Barrowman said he had been mulling further opportunities in the area for some time after the firm’s tenth anniversary, and it comes after his firm last year agreed to buy a separate Dunkeld practice, adding to its Pitlochry base, purchasing and setting up from scratch for about £400,000.

Sellers Duguid and Bayles, as well as all current dentists and local staff in Crieff and Auchterarder, will remain in post as the practices switch to the Infinityblu brand.

The company – which now has more than 40 staff – hopes to double the turnover of both new practices in two years. The immediate goal at the new sites is to clear existing waiting lists.

Barrowman said: “These practices are already working well and providing a very high standard. They are in great locations and both have lots of potential for growth."
