C&WW bidders given deadline extension

Vodafone and Indian group Tata Communications were yesterday given an extra three weeks to decide whether they want to bid for telecoms group Cable & Wireless Worldwide.

The two companies now have to announce by 19 April whether they intend to make an offer following their preliminary talks with the group. A previous deadline was due to expire next Thursday.
