The division of the privately owned Robertson group of companies has been appointed by the local authority in a deal worth some £600,000 over a two-year period with an option for it to be extended for a further two years.

Ian Gibson, managing director, Robertson Facilities Management, said “This contract cements our status as a leading provider of facilities management services across Scotland. We currently have active contracts with many Scottish local authorities and have also established a major presence in the north of England delivering hard and soft FM services for public sector clients. We look forward to working with East Renfrewshire Council over the next two years.”

• Building maintenance services company Alba Facilities Services has rolled out an “efficiency-boosting” software system thanks to a third round of funding from UK Steel Enterprise (UKSE).

UKSE, the Tata Steel subsidiary set up to assist growing businesses in traditional steel areas, has backed the Lanarkshire business with a five-figure investment.

The funding, along with grant support from Scottish Enterprise, has allowed Alba to purchase an enterprise resource planning system, which will provide a faster and more efficient service for clients and help free up senior management to concentrate on business development.
