Arbroath-based drinks firm Arbikie said winning two medals at the global spirits industry’s equivalent of the Oscars will help drive its growth in North America and globally.

The business picked up a gold and broze medal in recognition of its gin and chilli vodka products respectively at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition.

These come after the a series of award wins for the 2,000-acre farm-to-bottle distillery, recently bagging Best UK Gin and Best UK Vodka at the World Gin Awards.

Its Kirsty’s Gin was launched last year and is Scotland’s first gin to be distilled from scratch without using neutral grain spirit, while its Arbikie Chilli Vodka combines its potato vodka with Chipotle chillis grown in Scotland’s first chilli farm Chillilicious.

Owner David Stirling said Arbikie is “delighted” to have picked up the awards in the competition that received 1,850 global entries overall.

He said: “As a resident of New York these medals are a massive coup and will help grow our brand in the USA, North America and across the globe.

“The industry views the competition as one of the most prestigious in the world and to have won two medals on our first entry to the competition is fantastic.”
