OUTDOOR wear company Highlander has become the first Scottish firm to win a licence to produce goods for the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games.

The Livingston-based company will be the official maker of luggage, with products including backpacks, shoulder bags and wallets.

Highlander was also an official licensee for the London 2012 Olympic Games, and sales director Ramin Golzari said the Glasgow Games seemed like the next natural step.

The products will form part of an official merchandise range which is expected to expand in the coming months as more firms are signed up.

Glasgow 2014 deputy chief executive Ty Speer said: “We are pleased to see the first of what we anticipate will be a number of Scottish companies come forward as an official merchandise licensee. We’ll be expanding our range of merchandise later this year and next.”
