Communications and PR outfit Beattie generated record profits last year of £590,000, a threefold increase over the previous 12 months, its latest figures have revealed.

The firm – founded in Lanarkshire in 1986, initially as a news agency – said it had been helped by “significant” new client wins including cosmetics brand Avon, Merck’s Seven Seas account and French fashion label La Redoute.

Turnover grew by 17 per cent to £8.6 million and group managing director Laurna Woods said the robust performance had continued into the first half of the current financial year.

“We enjoyed an exceptional year in 2015 and I’m confident 2016, our 30th anniversary year, will be even better,” said Woods.

Beattie has committed to creating 30 additional jobs in 2016 to mark its anniversary. The firm has eight offices across the UK including Edinburgh, Falkirk and Glasgow. It provides PR, social, creative and digital marketing services.
