A NEW web TV business has announced a partnership with Scottish entertainment publisher The List to offer short online films featuring local restaurateurs, hoteliers and bar owners.

The short films will run alongside The List's online directories of restaurants and bars on its website, list.co.uk.

Martin Burt, founder of Flixity.tv, said the films would be a cost-effective way for small business owners to market themselves.

"We hope for businesses it will be a more credible source of information for people and hence increase sales," he said. "It's not brochure-ware videos, there is creativity in making these films."

Burt said he expected to roll out the project across the country, alongside The List, which is planning to expand its coverage to other UK cities.

Relying on an already established network of production talent, Flixity.tv plans to grow its operation to develop bases across the UK in line with The List's expansion.

Burt expects to produce 200 online commercials with The List this year.

The listings magazine firm, which has entered a revenue-sharing deal with Flixity, will this week launch a marketing campaign to its database of 10,000 Scottish firms.

"It is great for us to have this partnership with the most established entertainment publisher in Scotland," said Burt.

Simon Dessain, digital director for The List, said: "Video is the fastest-growing digital medium, and this is the case from both viewing and advertising perspectives. High-quality video output, as provided by flixity.tv, will enrich the experience for users of list.co.uk."
