Clydesdale staff bank on redesigned uniform

Marking a new standalone chapter for Clydesdale and Yorkshire banks but incorporating their history is the aim of new staff uniforms created in a collaboration between a Glasgow designer and a Yorkshire mill.

The revamped workwear is to be unveiled this month, with Glasgow School of Art graduate Aimee Kent commissioned to create one print for each of the two lenders, which were spun off by National Australia Bank earlier this year and are now part of CYBG.

For Clydesdale Bank, Kent took inspiration from the likes of Glasgow’s Templeton Carpet Factory and Charles Rennie Mackintosh, including art nouveau design in a modern, geometric arrangement. She said: “I wanted to make something you’d feel proud to wear.”

Helen Page, director of customer proposition and marketing at the lenders, said the aim was for the staff uniform “to represent our brand – not just in the way it looks and feels, but in the story of its making”.
