Clydesdale signs up Steve Cram to advise on running business

CLYDESDALE Bank aims to race ahead after appointing athlete Steve Cram, the former world record-holder, as an "ambassador".

Cram, whose pay under his two-year deal will depend on the number of appearances he makes for the bank, will represent Clydesdale and stablemate Yorkshire Bank at schools and athletic clubs, as well as at business events and seminars. He says: "With the Commonwealth and Olympic Games coming to these shores in the near future, track and field will take the nation by storm and I look forward to helping the bank support and develop the stars of tomorrow."

Divisional director Colin Fyfe adds: "His role will see him take part in coaching sessions on the track and inspiring businesses in the boardroom and his appointment is further indication of the bank's commitment to developing the UK's future sporting and business talent."
