Clydesdale Bank moves into London's '˜Cheesegrater'

Clydesdale Bank has signed a 15-year lease to take up space in a landmark London skyscraper dubbed the '˜Cheesegrater'.

The Glasgow-based lender has taken occupation of 17,300 square feet on the 15th floor of the Leadenhall Building, a joint venture between British Land and Oxford Properties.

Tim Roberts, head of offices and residential at British Land said: “We have seen strong demand for space at the Leadenhall Building, and have been very pleased to secure long-term commitments from blue-chip occupiers, such as Clydesdale Bank. With just one floor available, we anticipate that the building will be fully let ahead of schedule later this year.”

The building, with 46 floors of office accommodation, stands alongside other City landmarks including the Gherkin and Walkie Talkie and is now the base for more than 4,800 workers.

Chris Carter Keall, vice-president and head of asset management at Oxford Properties, said: “Clydesdale’s decision to move in is a fantastic endorsement of our leasing strategy, and we are delighted to welcome them to the building.”
