Clyde Corrosion Control to double headcount

A SCOTTISH industrial coatings firm has forecast “exponential” growth using the springboard of a £50,000 investment and the acquisition of a division of Doosan Babcock completed just before Christmas.

Clyde Corrosion Control secured five jobs with the acquisition of coatings business ICSE from Doosan.

Clyde director Jim McSporran said he expected to nearly double the group’s headcount this year from 14 to 26.

The company, based at the Westway Business Park in Renfrew, has also expanded its facilities.

In addition to extending its lease on its existing 40,000 square foot industrial bay for ten years, the company has taken an additional 10,000sq ft unit for 14 months and a further 17,000sq ft in an unusual, flexible deal that will be reviewed on a quarterly basis.

McSporran, who joined Clyde last year, said: “We expect to expand the business to grow exponentially on the corrosion side, and the coatings side we see growing quite dramatically.”

He has overseen the business’s success in winning International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO) 9000 accreditation. This lets it work directly with larger industrial clients.

“We are now higher up the tree and we are pitching for approvals with the likes of FMC and GE,” McSporran added.
