A new report from industry consultancy HVS suggests the longer-term picture for hotels in the capital, such as the Balmoral, above, looks bright. It points to the forthcoming Ryder Cup golf tournament and new services from Air Canada and EasyJet as potential fillips. According to the firm, revenue per available room, or RevPAR – a key industry measure – in Edinburgh’s hotels fell by 31 per cent over the past seven years as the recession took its toll.
