Carr’s to build new Scottish flour mill

Flour firm Carr’s says it will build a £17 million state-of-the-art mill at Kirkaldy after its existing operations there helped it beat challengesd facing the industry.

The Carlisle-based firm said its existing wheat handling facility and mill next to the port of Kirkcaldy had “far exceeded expectations” in recent months, allowing the company to secure supplies of high quality wheat at competitive prices in the “challenging grain market”.

The board therefore decided to expand the operation by investing in a new mill.
