Care services firm hires Robinson as operations chief

INDEPENDENT Living Services (ILS), which provides care at home for older and disabled people, has appointed Gwen Robinson as its operations director.

Robinson, who has previously held posts as nursing director at Scotcare and services development manager at Margaret Blackwood Housing, is originally from Helmsdale, in Sutherland, and trained as a nurse in Dundee.

ILS chairman Scott Christie – who is a former finance director and chief operating officer at Macdonald Hotels, where he helped lead a management buy-out in 2003 to take the firm private again – says Robinson would add "great strength" to the management team.

He adds: "With the recent change of government and a focus on reducing costs in the public sector, we anticipate there will be an increased demand for our services across Scotland."
