The agreement will see the west coast firm, appropriately named Cake, supply the supermarket giant with peppermint, caramel and Belgian chocolate fingers, puff candy crunches, chocolate crispy squares and white chocolate raspberry fingers. It is understood that the contract is worth £150,000 and covers 48 Asda superstores north of the Border.

Cake is the brainchild of Sam Henderson, pictured, and his wife, Barbara, who run Lomond Fine Foods.

They set up the bakery after being unable to find a supplier to provide their wholesale business with “innovative, consistent” cakes.

Henderson said: “This is our first venture into the retail market, and having only met Asda seven months ago at a ‘Meet The Buyer’ event in Dundee, we can now officially say we’re supplying a national supermarket chain, which is fantastic.”
