Business briefs: Stem cell trial firm boss gets pay cut | Seddon Property Services

RENEURON chief executive Michael Hunt saw his pay package dip last year after losses widened at the life sciences firm, which is using Glasgow’s Southern General Hospital to carry out the first stem cell trials for stroke patients.

Hunt’s total remuneration fell to £238,000 in the year to 31 March from £250,000 after pre-tax losses at the Aim-quoted firm widened to £6.8 million from £6.6m, the company’s annual report revealed.

Shares in ReNeuron received a boost last month after the firm reported “intriguing” early results from its stem cell trial.

BUILDING maintenance company Seddon Property Services has hired 40 staff at its Scottish base in Bathgate after winning a contract from social housing provider Home Scotland.

Under the deal, the firm – which has recruited administrators, managers, supervisors and workers with trades, taking its headcount north of the Border to nearly 180 – will maintain 3,500 homes for the group.

The company was founded in 1897 and is based in Cheshire. It is still owned by the third and fourth generations of the Seddon family.
