Business briefs: Pilkington takes on Towergate role | Rathbones poaches Hunter for capital | EnerMech’s £5m Saudi investment

Towergate, the acquisitive insurance group, has named Stewart Pilkington as head of both its Borders and Edinburgh offices.

He takes up the post from Giles where he managed its Falkirk business and is said to have played an “instrumental role” in the corporate relationship team. Towergate Insurance has acquired 15 businesses since the beginning of the year.

Rathbones poaches Hunter for capital

WEALTH manager Rathbone Brothers has appointed Stephen Hunter as investment director for its Edinburgh office. He joins from Cornelian Asset Managers, where he was a director in the private client and charity team.

David Macaulay, regional director of Rathbones’ Edinburgh, said: “Following our move to St Andrew Square in 2010, we are pleased to welcome him to our expanding team of high-quality investment managers.”

EnerMech’s £5m Saudi investment

Scottish engineering group EnerMech is investing up to

£5 million in a joint venture in Saudi Arabia.

The Aberdeen-based energy engineering specialist will work with Shoaibi Group and will share office and warehousing facilities in Al Khobar. The new business will employ about 40 people and provide services such as cranes, hydraulics, valves, pipelines and umbilicals to the Saudi Arabian energy sector.
