Business briefs: Opec holds course with 2012 forecast | NVT

OPEC has left its forecast for world oil demand growth in 2012 unchanged for a second month, saying there were signs that a slowdown in global economic activity is easing.

In a monthly report yesterday, the Organisation of the Petroleum Exporting Countries said world oil demand would rise by 860,000 barrels per day (bpd) in 2012, steady from the previous assessment.

Aberdeen presence for NVT announced

NVT Group, the Bellshill-based IT firm, yesterday unveiled plans to open an office in Aberdeen, which will create ten jobs.

The £500,000 investment by the company, which already has 85 staff, follows a 74 per cent increase in turnover over the past two years to £10.5 million.

Tommy Mitchell, NVT’s technical director, said: “Aberdeen is one of the most economically-vibrant cities in Europe.”
