Morrison wins £28m flood defence deal

A £28 million contract to upgrade flood defences in northern Scotland has been won by Morrison Construction, the Scottish business of building firm Galliford Try.

The contract is part of a wider Moray Council project to upgrade flood defences in the town of Forres, and will begin this month and be completed in spring 2015.

It aims to alleviate potential flooding from the Findhorn and Pilmuir catchments.

Metis to market Man of the Match

GLASGOW-based intellectual property firm Metis Partners has been hired to market one of the most famous trademarks in world sport – Man of the Match.

Originally used in cricket, the accolade is now used around the English-speaking world in sports including basketball, football and rugby.

The name is being put up for sale by OFS Group, an Anglo-American IP dealer, which has already raised significant revenue by licensing the term.

Ladarnas makes Wright move

LADARNAS, the Edinburgh-based IT firm, has bought the computer support arm of West Lothian’s Wrightech.

The move doubles Ladarnas’s base of IT support clients and will allow Wrightech to focus on its core consultancy business

Ladarnas managing director Neil Ballantyne expects turnover to rise by 25 per cent as a result of the purchase, and he pledged new clients would get a better service thanks to his company’s expertise.
