Bumper sales week for John Lewis

JOHN Lewis's Scottish department stores shared in a bumper sales rise last week, with the chain ahead by 25 per cent.

Turnover in the Glasgow branch shot up by 15.1 per cent in the week to 29 May, with Aberdeen 8.4 per cent higher and Edinburgh ahead by 6.7 per cent, with all UK stores returning positive figures.

Merchandise director Jill Little said: "This week has started strongly and we look set fair to achieve another impressive increase on budget."
