British Gas seals Econergy deal

Energy giant Centrica said yesterday that its British Gas subsidiary had bought biomass heating company Econergy, paying £6.5 million for the 81 per cent of the company it didn’t already own.

The firm said last month’s confirmation of subsidy levels for renewable heat by the UK government underpinned the growth opportunities for biomass heating, which Econergy was “well positioned to lead in”.

Bedfordshire-based Econergy offers a complete design, installation and energy services package.
