Boardroom reshuffle at green bank

BUSINESS Secretary Vince Cable yesterday named PwC accountant Tony Poulter as the next senior independent director at the Green Investment Bank (GIB).

Poulter, who will continue to serve as the firm’s global head of consulting, replaces Sir Adrian Montague, who announced in February that he would step down as deputy chairman.

Lord Smith of Kelvin, the GIB’s chairman, said: “Tony brings a strong track record of leadership in infrastructure investment and I look forward to working closely with him to build on the positive start GIB has made in its first financial year.”

Cable added: “His knowledge of infrastructure investment makes him ideal for the role.”

The GIB was launched in November with £3 billion of public money to invest in renewable energy projects.

Poulter was a civil servant between 1979 and 1988, when he joined Price Waterhouse, becoming a partner in 1990.
