Boardroom bonuses are bouncing back

BOARDROOM bonuses have started to "bounce back", with payouts to leading company directors increasing by 23 per cent in recent months.

Bonus payments to directors in FTSE 100 firms jumped by 22.5 per cent in the past six months, research by Incomes Data Services (IDS) showed.

Their annual bonuses increased from 456,000 to 558,000, a "dramatic" recovery from last year when payments fell by almost one third.

Basic salaries of FTSE 100 directors increased by 7 per cent and by 5.1 per cent for directors of all listed firms.
